Regional Initiative Association in partnership with Bregovo Municipality, RIEW Monatana and St. Kitil and Metodius Secondary School implement Improvement of the Ecological Status of Danube River Project. The project is financed by the UNDP/GEF within Danube Regional Project - National Grants Scheme Second Round and managed by the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe. The project is supported with the amount of 6200 USD for the period January – December 2006. Project manager is Mrs. Velichka Ivanova.

Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation in partnership with Balkani Wildlife Society and Danube Region Basin Directorate implements More Space for Rivers and Safety for People Project. The project is financed by the UNDP/GEF within Danube Regional Project - National Grants Scheme Second Round and managed by the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe.

World for All Association in partnership with Silistra Municipalty, Eco World Association and Eco Club Pelican implement To Stop Danube River Nutrient Pollution Project. The project is financed by the UNDP/GEF within Danube Regional Project - National Grants Scheme Second Round and managed by the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe. The project is supported with the amount of 5 700 USD for the period January – December 2006. Project manager is Mrs. Irena Marinova.

Euromodel Association in Partnership with Oryahovo Municipality, RIEW Vratsa, Mizia Municipality and Agency for Natural Management are implementing Reconstruction of Wet Lands Habitants in Oriahovo and Miziq Municipalities Project.

The second edition of the Environmental Film Festival “Green wave – 21st century” for films and TV programmes dedicated to ecology and environmental protection took place in Dolna Banya between 7 and 9 May 2006.

Bulgaria in Europe Association in partnership with Vidin Municipality, Youth Club for Development, Vidin Regional District, Hristo Botev Secondary School is implementing Establishment of Informational and Educational Centre in Vidin Project. The project is financed by the UNDP/GEF within Danube Regional Project - National Grants Scheme Second Round and managed by the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe. The project is supported with the amount of 6300 USD for the period January –December 2006. Project manager is Mrs. Maria Velikova.

Intereco 21 Federation in partnership with Balkan Environmental Federation Association and Roma-Lom Foundation are implementing Cleaning of Danube River Coastal Line from Industrial, Agricultural and Household Wastes in the Region of Lom Municipality. Forestation with Poplars and Willows Project.

On 18 January, 2006 in Veliko Turnovo a closing meeting under the project Development of Partnership for the Reduction of Pollution of the Yantra River Basin took place. The project was implemented by National Movement Ecoglasnost – Veliko Turnovo section with the financial support of the UNDP/GEF Danube Regional Project during the 1st round of the National Grants Program managed by REC for CEE.

On 20 December, 2005 at 13:00 h, the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe – Bulgaria will host a meeting for representatives of the organizations whose proposals were selected under the 2005 National Grants scheme of the Danube Regional Program, financed by UNDP/GEF and managed by REC for CEE. The meeting will take place at the office of REC for CEE – Bulgaria on 42A Tsar Simeon Street.

The Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC), on behalf of the UNDP/GEF Danube Regional Project (DRP), hereby announces the second call for proposals to support non-governmental organisation (NGO) projects related to the reduction of Danube River basin nutrient and toxic chemicals pollution at the national level.

Non-governmental organisations will receive funding to lower nutrient pollution in the Danube Basin through a new round of grants offered by The Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe, as part of the United Nations Development Programme/Global Environmental Facility’s Danube Regional Project.
